Plasma Ion Nitriding

28.Nov.2025

Plasma Ion Nitriding is a modern technique for surface hardening of metallic components to improve their service life - a glow discharge process in mixture of nitrogen and hydrogen gases.

The main advantages of plasma nitriding process over conventional gas nitriding process are as follows:

  • Reduced cycle time
  • Controlled growth of the surface layer
  • Reduced distortion
  • Improved surface hardness
  • Wear and corrosion resistance
  • Controlled diffusion of nitrogen into the surface
  • Improved durability
  • Uniform case depth
  • Precise control over process parameters
  • Environment friendly
  • Efficient for masking

Ramco has installed a fully automatic SCADA controlled Plasma Ion Nitriding furnace in 2025, to offer a diverse portfolio of heat-treated parts to its automotive, agri-machinery, off-highway, construction industry clients.
